Regional HSE Manager – Renewable Energy (Wind, Solar & BESS) (Mr. Manoj Kr. Bal & Dhanesh Ayappan)
Role Purpose
To lead and manage HSE performance across the assigned region covering Wind, Solar, and BESS projects and O&M operations. The role is responsible for driving HSE compliance, implementing corporate HSE programs, developing site HSE teams, reducing risks, and fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring alignment with corporate HSE objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement corporate HSE strategy, standards, regulatory inspections and management systems across all regional projects and operational sites.
- Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to site HSE teams.
- Ensure consistent application of HSE requirements across construction, commissioning, and O&M activities.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and engagement.
- Conduct regular reviews, coaching sessions, and competency development programs.
- Ensure adequate HSE resource planning for projects and operational requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, company standards and industry best practices.
- Review and monitor project risk assessments, critical activity controls, and permit-to-work systems.
- Monitor closure of audit findings, corrective actions, and compliance gaps.
- Analyze HSE performance trends, leading and lagging indicators, and incident data.
- Lead investigation of significant incidents and ensure effective corrective actions.
- Drive proactive reporting programs, safety observations, near-miss reporting, and behavior-based safety initiatives.
- Monitor regional HSE KPIs and implement improvement plans.
- Support project teams during mobilization, execution, commissioning, and O&M phases.
- Provide HSE oversight for critical activities including lifting operations, work at height, electrical works, confined space entry, turbine maintenance, and BESS operations.
- Participate in project reviews and provide recommendations on HSE risks and controls.
- Act as the primary HSE representative for the region.
- Coordinate with project managers, O&M teams, contractors, consultants and regulatory authorities.
- Provide regular HSE performance reports and updates to the Head – HSE and senior management.
